cross-cultural experiences.

My native country is Greece, where I was born. When I was 11 my family moved to Italy. I then had the opportunity to visit many European countries and realized how much there is to see and learn from contact with different cultures. Life took me to Brazil and I have lived in South America for 3 years. Thus my creativity is influenced by exposure to many different parts of the globe.

I always had an inclination towards art and was amazed by the power of color and shape. So after graduating from high school, I decided graphic design was what attracted me most. I attended a 3-year course in The Athenian Technological Educational School, in Athens, and acquired a diploma in Graphic and Interior Design. However, I felt that this was not enough to meet my goals and decided to continue my studies in London, England. I applied and was accepted by one of the best art and design schools in the world, The London College of Printing and Distributive Trades, known today as The London College of Communication. During my studies in England, I had the unique opportunity to spend one semester in the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York as an exchange student.

With my Bachelor's degree in hand, I returned to my homeland, Greece, to put in effect all the wonderful things I learned as a student. My first job was with Red Design Consultants, an award winning graphic design company, as a junior graphic designer developing corporate identity, packaging and merchandising of clients such as Metaxa International, Eurobank SA and Delta Dairy products. After that, I spent a brief period working for Violex BIC, as a junior graphic designer in the company's creative department, developing the packaging and merchandising of the famous BIC pens, lighters, razors, shaving creams, socks and pantyhose. Then I was offered a position as a junior graphic designer at Aris Terzopoulos Publications, one of the leading publishing companies in Greece. During the 4 years I spent there, I rose to the position of Senior Graphic Designer, responsible for the creative department of MEN magazine. At the same time, I was a part-time professor, teaching graphic design at the Mediterranean ECS University in the BA in Graphic Design course offered in collaboration with The University of Northumbria at Newcastle, England. My last job before moving to the USA, was as an art director for the marketing department of the Cultural and Sports' Center Dais where I designed and developed promotional material concerning the center's events. At this time I also taught graphic design in the 4th and final year of the BA in Graphic Design course offered by the SUNY/Empire State College in partnership with New York College, ARTES.

I made a permanent move to the USA in 2005. I now am a full time Web Production Designer for PRODUCE FOR BETTER HEALTH FOUNDATION, a provider of consumer education and health, motivating people to eat more fruits and vegetables. As part of my responsibilities, I design and develop enhanced web pages, graphical elements and HTML emails and contribute to conceptualization of new website content, meeting tight deadlines and goals. I also do freelance graphic and web design work from my base in Delaware.
